The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) is Africa’s largest region economic treaty and organization with Member Stats fully functioning as free trade area since 2026.

The COMESA investment Regional Investment Agency (RIA) is the investment institution with the mission of promoting COMESA as a leading destination for regional and international investment as well as promoting investment into COMESA Member States and supporting COMESA national Investment Promotion Agencies (NIPAs) to strengthen their investment attraction activities, investment facilitation and advocacy activities objectives.

Investment & Trade Intelligence GmbH was thrilled to join forces with the COMESA RIA in delivering a vital capacity-building initiative, focusing on the latest sectoral development in foreign direct investment attraction as well as policy implementation for investment facilitation.

The focus of the capacity-building initiative covered practical assessment and live simulation of investment to determine the optimal package of incentives and facilitation, ensuring the foreign investment positive impact in job creation, transfer of technology, and capital injection to the destination country.

During the last 10 years, we have seen a significant increase in FDI to Africa in industrial manufacturing motivated by having a stable supply of resources, strong labor force, cost advantages as well as secured energy supply.
